This a Vaqutia, it is a subspecies of a dolphin and a very close relative. They only live in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. Thy are most often found in the shallow parts of the water but when something spooks it they swim away as fast as possible. This is the worlds most rare marine animal, with about 60 left in the wild, and was first discovered in 1958 when they where first on the edge of extinction. More then half of the population has been lost in the last three years. One of the reasons they are so extinct is because they get caught in the gillnets of the fisherman and then they drowned. About 1/5 of them get caught and drowned to be exact. If purposely caught and killed each swim bladder can be sold for more then $4,000. Please help save the Vaqutia from complete extinction.
